Acknowledgments This book is a revised and expanded version of Conflict, Care and Control: The History of the British Columbia Corrections Branch, 1848-1988, which was published in 1991 by the Simon Fraser University Institute for Studies in Criminal Justice Policy SBN 0-86491-121-1). The original chapters were rewritten and two new chapters were added to document Corrections Branch history during the 1990s, In addition, the number of photographs in this volume has quadrupled. Corrections in British Columbia: Pre-Confederation to the Millennium reflects the involvement of many Corrections Branch management and staff.
