Emergency Management AfterAction Review Processes to Influence Ontario Municipalities Amy Leggate BESMS Project Overview After-action reviews (AAR) essential elements and importance in emergency management (EM) programs in Ontario with a standardized approach. Interviewed EM professionals to reveal their methods.  Topic was selected due to interest in area and call out from JIBC.  The research question is what literature is available to assis the OFMEM when making AAR process suggestions to municipalities in Ontario  I currently work for the City of London Corporate Security and Emergency Management Division.  Project Overview  Researched topic via literature review  Developed one questionnaire for EM professionals in Ontario.  Created an outline for essential items within an AAR and discussed questionnaire results to compare methods in Ontario municipalities. Results  The OFMEM does not provide an AAR template, it was found that all three municipalities surveyed utilized a different approach or template for this tool that could be used to develop programs with little cost, if used to full potential. Impact  The OFMEM could develop a comprehensive AAR tool that could guide municipalities to develop a strong lessons learned program. Capstone Challenges  A challenge I experienced was keeping the flow of information clear and concise with such a large paper.  Revisit the research question often to ensure you are staying within its parameters. Capstone Enablers  Choose a topic that you can relate to in your field of work.  Completing this courses without any other courses allowed me to focus completely on its requirements. Lessons Learned  Send out questionnaires as soon as possible to allow for busy professionals a chance to get them back to you. Thank You Amy Leggate amyleggate@icloud.com
