Biography

Beth Larcombe has proven expertise in management, leadership and research in Emergency Management. Her early work in crisis intervention and emergency response on the front line led her to an appointment as a BC Coroner (Investigative and Presiding in Coroners Court, BCCS), and the pursuit of academic achievements to support and add credibility to her practice. Beth Larcombe was one of only two American Board-Certified medicolegal death investigators at the BCCS during her tenure, and additionally achieved a Master Degree in Disaster and Emergency Management. After retiring as a Coroner, Beth was a research team member on the multiyear SIMTEC project at the JIBC, and worked on several projects with HEMBC Acute Care Emergency Management planning and exercising. Beth presented an active threat exercise carried out during a fully operational emergency department at St Paul’s Hospital at the EPICC Conference in Vancouver in 2017. Current work focuses on health emergency management and research and education as a researcher in Applied Research and sessional instructor in the Baccalaureate of Emergency and Security Management Studies at the JIBC.
