Amaratunga, Carol

Carol Amaratunga is an Adjunct Professor, School of Public Health and Social Policy and School of Child and Youth Care, University of Victoria. In 2011, she retired as Dean, Applied Research, Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), and continues as a JIBC Research Associate Emerita. From 2003 - 2008, Carol was awarded the Ontario Women's Health Council Chair and was a tenured Associate Professor, in the Department of Community Medicine and Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa. An independent scholar in retirement she enjoys creative writing and views applied research as a tool for social change and social justice.
