Peter Learoyd is a Program Director in the Emergency Management Division (EMD) within the JIBC’s School of Public Safety, where he oversees and supports the delivery and development of a variety of emergency management training and educational services for government, private sector and non-government organizations. Mr. Learoyd also instructs within various streams of emergency management, support research projects, and is active in the development of curriculum.
Prior to joining the JIBC, Pete worked with a provincial government agency as a manager of safety, security and emergency management where he was responsible for developing and administering agency and provincial-wide response plans, training personnel and stakeholders, implementing a variety of preparedness and mitigation initiatives, and exercising/leading personnel in the response to incidents and emergencies. Mr. Learoyd was also responsible for overseeing and advancing a provincial-wide post-earthquake damage assessment program which aimed to reduce the impact on residents following catastrophic events.
