Nym Hughes worked in the BC College and Institute system from 1983 to 2012, starting at what was then Fraser Valley College developing the Community Access Skills Program for students with intellectual disabilities, and ending at what is now the University of the Fraser Valley as an instructor in the BA in Adult Education. In between, she spent many years at the Justice Institute of British Columbia in the Centre for Conflict Resolution in a variety of roles including student, coach, instructor, PLAR co-ordinator, curriculum developer and faculty development specialist . She received both a Masters and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from SFU. Her Major Project in the M.Ed. explored the ideas and experiences of feminist administrators in the BC college and institute system. Her doctoral research focused on the Certificate in Conflict Resolution at the JIBC using a narrative history approach. Nym is now retired and living on Hornby Island.
